Two big wall panels with large skeleton keys Easy large canvasses painted with big keys I was asked to decorate for an event in church {New Beginnings} in a KEY theme. Naturally I did not want to spend a lot of money and started looking around the house, brainstorming. I quickly came upon two canvases that I had used before. I had gotten tired of the "art" I had painted on them years ago and had covered them with a coat of white. This is the scenario: my brain + two canvases + key theme You see where this is going, don't you? I got out some of the mint-green chalk paint I made for an earlier post (see here) and painted the background. Then it was time to add some black keys (I just kinda made them up as I went). When the keys were dry I added some quick dry-brush strokes with white paint. Ta-DA!!! I even got them done in time! Yay!! And the beauty is:
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~~ ~ ~ Good things, right? Does life get any better than this? Decorating with Vintage Flashcards - Part Two Old flashcards and bingo cards make perfect modern-day decor I have a confession to make: I have a fetish for vintage flashcards! Don't ask me why: I don't really know..... Can't put my finger on it.... I just know that seeing old flashcards makes me smile..... :) :D So I use them all over in the decor of my home (as shown in a previous post about decorating with vintage flashcards) Just a simple little statement from the past to remind us to dream today! This tray, that I lined with old flashcards, is hugely popular around the house: we use it for everything. Most often it is just a place to keep the remotes.... :) Angie, from Knick of Time created this lovely magnet board from the top of a vintage sewing machine. Look: it wouldn't have been complete without the vintage bingo card.... Super simple display of vintage subtraction flashcards on an old metal hanger. Just attach with some clothespins you have laying around.... Voila: you're done Susan from Must Love Junk is a pro with vintage decor: check out her dining room: How adorable is it!! White dishes, vintage glove-molds, and a super fun flashcard: EAT !! And her vintage flashcards spilling into the hall where she has a whole big large display showing a variety of fun old cards.... What a great way to welcome visitors into the home.... :) We can't forget the vintage bicycle wheel message board! Oh, how I love those.... Shannon shows us hers and of course: it is not complete without the great pop of red in the bingo card..... Add a conversation piece: Hello, sit down, stay a while, and tell me: "How have you been?" Lining the drawers with vintage flashcards gives this little dresser some fun surprise spunk when you open it up.....! Decorating with vintage flashcards (& Bingo cards) offers endless possibilities.... In short, this is what I came up with today:
